Abandoned embryonic stem cell trial to re-start

The first ever clinical trial using human embryonic stem cell – derived oligodendrocytes has received new funding, after it was abandoned by Geron in 2011 (Nature 479, 459; 2011). The 14.3 million US$ provided by CIRM to Asterias Biotherapeutics of Menlo Park, California will be used to treat and monitor additional patients with spinal cord injury. For more information:
